Low thieves nick kids' bag

CALLOUS thieves have left two children distraught after stealing a schoolbag and portable DVD players they were given as Christmas gifts.

"The DVD players and my little boy's schoolbag were stolen out of our car," Ms Norris said.

She said for that family reasons her children, aged seven and two, were forced to travel to and from Brisbane each fortnight. She said they used their DVD players to make the trip more enjoyable.

Police said the break-in was the latest in a long list, and they had identified the problem as serious enough to launch a new campaign to combat it.

Senior Constable Melanie Ryan of Maryborough police said that in recent months Torquay, Scarness and Urangan had all experienced a high level of criminal activity.
