Pudsey gets a designer makeover

This year, Children in Need asked top designers to give our beloved Pudsey a makeover.

Mulberry, Louis Vuitton and Henry Holland are amongst the top designers who have taken the yellow teddy, complete with eye patch, and transformed him into a piece of high fashion.
They – along Erdem, Jonathan Sounders, PPQ,cosmeticbagfactory Topshop and Kate Hiller, just to name a few – have used leather, florals, hermeshandbags checks and metallics to give the mascot a new identity.

The bears are currently on display at Liberty in London and will all be sold to raise money for the Children in Need telethon on November 18th. They are being auctioned on Ebay with a reserve of 200 but the bids on some bears are already into the thousands.

Pringle's model is a bear made of luxurious, pure cashmere, parkajackets with one-carat diamonds to complete Pudsey's cardigan. Emma Hill, chloehandbags the creative director of Mulberry explained how their bear's design is quintessentially theirs: "It comes in the same Soft Buffalo leather we use for our Alexa bag and his colour is classic Oak with chocolate paws and mouth – two of the most iconic Mulberry colours!"
Giles Deacon drew inspiration from his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, and transformed Pudsey into a vision of silver leather whilst Erdem's floral collection was echoed in his design: "It's a cause I believe in and it was fun to work with Pudsey, womenhandbags" he said.

Henry Holland was in total agreement: "Pudsey was great to work with and not as much of a dive as I had thought!"
