On the Runway: A World in Flux

"I thought: ‘How can I lose touch with what is going on? How can I not be affected?"' said Miguel Adrover, bringing his collection piled — literally — with references to a greener and less wasteful world.

An emotional show from the designer, back in New York after eight years in his home in Majorca, summed up the opening days of the international women's autumn 2012 season. And it reflected in a dramatic form general changes affecting fashion and society.

Designers, showing on their runways a mix-up of winter and summer clothes might say: "How can we talk about seasonal collections when the weather is so chaotic?"

Or: "What is American fashion, when my roots are in Asia and my aspirations global?"

Those thoughts seemed condensed into a smart collection from Alexander Wang , whose sharp, white-winter look was, in fact, laminated tweed rainwear — one of the many fabrics that the designer said backstage he had developed from scratch.

These imaginative materials took the familiar story of American sportswear fast forward. Mr.Buy wholesale new wholesalereplicahandbags products on TradeTang. Wang's sleek, mildly military tailoring, which also came in a deep wine red, contrasted with a seductive, fitted, leather-and-silk draped dress. The casual, downtown element of street style in the designer's work has become more sophisticated, even including slender cocktail dresses with white fringing inspired by shaved fur.

Tension came from mesh masks covering the mouth, which the models pulled down as they stood in front of mirrored pillars on the catwalk, revealing themselves as iconic figures, led by Gisele Bündchen. What a pity that murky lighting subdued the effect!

The "magic carpets" — ethnic rugs — strewn across the Altuzarra show space were a metaphor for the world traveler, that stylish woman who can dangle a Moroccan coin necklace around her waist but make it look as chic as patterned Indian jodhpurs with knee-high boots.

"I was looking at my French roots — what is proper, bourgeois French style," said Joseph Altuzarra, although the essence of the show was in the mixing, like a tailored blue suit with a pleat-front skirt and a sweater with ethnic bobbles under a jacket.

The concept of tailoring, often with military gilded buttons, laced with the ethnic (and even a horse's head pattern) made for a collection that would have seemed stronger if it had been tightly edited.

At the Miguel A2011 Shoppers search through fakerolexwatches at Harrods department store during the first day .drover show, the greenery apparently growing out of clothing, dresses fashioned out of tea towels, T-shirts or bomber jackets and models throwing bank notes on the runway made for more than a recycling statement.

The designer, who lived in New York throughout the 1990s to 2004, seemed to have wrapped his soul in these clothes, which included pieces designed with Hessnatur, the German ecological and organic clothes line, where Mr. Adrover has found a fashion home. The reliable Aquatimer leatherhandbags.

The designer called the collection "Out of My Mind." Yet the clothes were powerful for their sensibility to the churning world: the Egyptian Revolution as a simple dress made from a beach towel printed with the mask of Tutankhamen; a burka reworked as a top; a ribbed dress made from an Alexander McQueen leather coat; or outfits created with his great-grandmother's nightdress or from the American flag.

Mr. Adrover imagined the show as a travel bag of clothes ejected from a plane flying over the Amazon, worn by people with no reference point on the origin,Market nonwovenbagfactory feedback Forum Talk. use or status of their finds. The result was a collection that was apolitical, yet throbbed with a sense of global upheaval.

New York fashion has been fed by designers with varied cultural origins who have enriched a familiar sportswear look.

From Prabal Gurung ,,guccihandbags site Card opposition filmy nearby Marker fit true Teixeira on Fabricate return 22 be amount. born in Singapore and raised in Nepal, came a selection from graphic capes, short and drawn on the curve, to sleek black dresses with sheer panel inserts. Before an ending of fancy gowns, a fine passage had tailored clothes glowing like blue-green oil spills, with foil-printed Neoprene panels. They gave an otherworldly effect to the simple styles and shone out in the collection.

The Band of Outsiders went down Mexico way, producing prairie dresses with tiny floral prints that recalled early Ralph Lauren. The designer Scott Sternberg is smart to grasp that world travelers are not compelled to dress for the weather on the Brooklyn streets. But when the floor-sweeping dresses had been replaced by tailored jackets over soft pants, the clothes seemed more in line with the sporty men's wear, presented on the same runway.

Rachel Zoe made her metamorphosis from Hollywood überstylist to fashion designer (via how-to-do-it books and reality TV) a family affair. Her father, husband, sister, nanny and baby son Skyler watched the parade of Swinging London looks updated with the idea: "What if Mick Jagger had been a girl?"

Tiger Moms vs. 'Bébé' moms

A little more than a year has passed since the publication of Amy Chua's "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" — the paroxysm-inducing guide to raising better children through belittlement, intimidation and tyrannical music practice — and already we have version 2.0. Pamela Druckerman's "Bringing Up Bébé" alleges that it's the French who could teach indulgent, over-scheduling, helicoptering American parents a thing or two about rearing les enfants.Great Promotions on Greatest Purchase San Francisco Giants Franchise Fitted coats Shops.

Druckerman, a Paris-based American mom of three, observes that French parents put a premium on learning how to wait. "It is why the French babies I meet mostly sleep through the night from two or three months old," she writes. "Their parents don't pick them up the second they start crying,Publique anuncios sobre authenticsunglasses gratis. allowing the babies to learn how to fall back asleep. It is also why French toddlers will sit happily at a restaurant. Rather than snacking all day like American children, they mostly have to wait until mealtime to eat."

In other words, French women don't have little bags of emergency Cheerios spilling all over their Louis Vuitton handbags. They also, Druckerman notes, wear skinny jeans instead of sweatpants.
Not only do the Tiger Mom and "Bringing Up Bébé" share a publisher, both books were excerpted to great fanfare in the Wall Street Journal days before publication. Sure, Chua's excerpt, "Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior," almost instantly went viral, whereas Druckerman's "Why French Parents Are Superior" is trending a little slower. (Druckerman's a bit more circumspect than Chua, a technique that tends not to attract as many eyeballs.) Still, the "Bébé" book is buzzing loudly.

And although public reaction, judging by the WSJ comments, is mostly standard-issue America-bashing ("the last two or three generations of U.S. kids are awful") or standard-issue French-bashing ("these are people who beheaded people for being wealthy"), one other thread stands out: The only thing Americans enjoy more than basking in self-regard is wallowing in self-loathing.

Despite the ardor with which we shout "We're No. 1!," we often seem even keener on hearing about what losers we are. Whether it'sDr. Philcrudely pointing out our deepest character flaws or a coach on the aptly named"The Biggest Loser"playing drill sergeant to some hapless contestant, it seems clear that beating ourselves up — or, more accurately, watching others get beat up for crimes we also commit — has become something of a national pastime.

This is particularly true when it comes to areas like parenting, where heaping pride is nearly always a sign of insecurity. But as much as American parents like to slosh around in their guilt while also splashing it on anyone who walks by pushing a stroller, they may not in fact feel bad enough to take advice from the French. We're talking, after all, about a people who not only eat pigeons but occasionally smoke cigarettes afterward,A client requested a video to promote his fakerolexwatches site. a people who also enjoy certain government subsidies and parental leave policies that make parenthood a less hectic proposition than over here.

So will the Urban Baby-trolling, sweatpants-wearing moms of America start skipping snack time for the sake of better restaurant behavior? Moreover, will French parenting capture the American public imagination the way Tiger mothering did?

Je ne crois pas. After all, we've seen something pretty close to French mothering on display in the White House for three years. Michelle Obama is ultra chic, eschews Happy Meals, watches her kids' TV time like a hawk,IWC watches are warranted by our christiandiorreplicahandbags for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. and she makes it practically impossible to imagine her daughters ever throwing food in restaurants. And for every American who loves her for it, many more seem to hate her and her skill set with a passion.

So while "Bringing Up Bébé" may wind up a hit,,guccihandbagsreplica bulbs are a great way to save energy and money. it's unlikely to be a sensation of Tiger Mom proportions. On the one hand, that's too bad: The world arguably needs more kids who don't throw food. On the other hand, maybe it's time to put this literary genre to bed. Otherwise, this time next year we may be faced with "Why Industrial Age Bosses Who Worked Children 16 Hours a Day Might Have Been On to Something." And we certainly can't have that. It doesn't leave enough time for piano practice.

Scarlett Johansson Thinks Fashion is Key to Obama's Re-Election

Certainly Hollywood stars love to dress up and show off their wealth along with their often impeccable taste. Granted,IWC watches are warranted by our discountcoachhandbags for a period of one year. most Americans don't like it when their favorite celebrities go around looking dumpy. But does that same principle apply to politicians? Actress Scarlett Johansson, along with a league of fashion designers, seem to think so.

All of the key players got dressed to the nines for a Tuesday night event called Runway to Win.There is one amazing online store with 100s of chloehandbags . Scarlett and Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, co-hosted the party which hopes to help get the President re-elected this fall.

"...The fashion world has an international spotlight on it," said the actress. "To be able to use that spotlight on a cause like this is incredible." She went on to proclaim, "any way to reintroduce that kind of cool factor (to Obama's re-election campaign) is very valuable."

Clearly, the promoters of the event don't have a very high opinion of American voters if they think selling handbags and cute clothes is the key to Obama's re-election.Best cheapchaneljewellery Have you spent a lot of time looking for the best replica watch for you? Asked which Obama has the best sense of style, Scarlett Johansson said both Mr. and Mrs. "both have a casual cool about them". She's right about that and one other point. That is that people need to vote. "You have to voice your opinion," she said.

Raleigh police found shot glass, empty marijuana bag in wrecked Jeep

Authorities have charged four others in connection with the accident. Hannah R. Smith, 18, was charged with hosting an underage drinking party that Molloy and Prince attended; Anthony Du Juan Geter, 21, was charged with buying two bottles of rum for a group of teens, with the help of Samantha M. McKinney, 17, and an unidentified 15-year-old.

Agents with the state alcohol law enforcement division said all of the teens, including Molloy, pooled their cash to buy the rum for a party at Smith's North Raleigh home.

Yellow Jackets pumped about playoff run

Starkville High boys soccer coach Brian Bennett worked the phones Sunday afternoon trying to find out some information about Hernando.

Bennett was thrilled to still have his down time filled with soccer.,burberryhandbags offers only partial refund if you get broken watch.

The Yellow Jackets have been putting together a scouting report on the fly as Starkville prepares for tonight's North Mississippi Class 5A title match against Hernando.

Match time is 5:30 p.Visit the premier cheapcanadagoose0 in Melbourne Australia.m. at Starkville's Yellow Jacket Stadium. Our goodbackpackfactory are inspected and confirmed genuine and come with a new watch.

"We called around and did some research," Bennett said.A client requested a video to promote his fakerolexwatches site. "We found out that have a couple of solid forwards and are good in goal.

Then after a pause, Bennett states the obvious.

"They made it this far so that means that have to be real good," Bennett said.

Starkville (12-3) will be playing for its second-ever north state title. The Yellow Jackets last made it this far in 2001 when Starkville lost 4-1 to Tupelo in a match played at Clinton High School.

"Since none of us have ever made it this far, this is real exciting," Starkville junior Taylor Wise said. "We are pumped about winning and continuing to play."

The Yellow Jackets may be playing their best soccer at precisely the right time. In the postseason, Starkville has posted victories over Center Hill (4-0) and Oxford (4-2).

"Our confidence level is really high right now," Bennett said. With all of the replicauhrenwatches sales rampant, "It has always been high with this group.

"However, we did have a bad a couple of weeks there late in the season and I saw a dip. But now its back where it belongs. We go out each time fully expecting to win."

Perhaps the key to the Yellow Jackets' postseason run is the squad's balance. In each playoff win, four different players scored a single goal apiece.

"When we get everybody involved, we have a chance to be a good soccer team," Starkville senior Kase Kingery said after the victory over Center Hill. "If we have balance like that, it takes the pressure off (keeper) Addison (Watson)."

Kingery, who is one of a bevy of talented seniors on the SHS roster, missed Monday's workout due to illness but is expected to play in tonight's championship match.

Watson recoded the shutout in goal against Center Hill and again was solid in the victory over Oxford.

The senior leadership and balance have provided huge keys for Starkville's late push.

"We are like one big family," Wise said. "Most of us have been playing soccer together since we were 6- or 7-year-olds. That is why this year is so special.

"It is the last year for several of these players. This is an emotional time and we don't want it to end yet."

Bennett feels like his squad will get a huge lift from playing at home tonight.

"The last time we played for the north state title, we played in Clinton," said Bennett, who is in his 14th season as coach. "You played the semifinals and finals down there.

"So to be able to play at home for the first time in this setting is very special. Hopefully, we will have a large crowd helping to motivate us."

Sophomore left midfielder Juan Salazar feels like his squad will be ready to play a real competitive match.

"This team has worked really hard together, as one, this year," Salazar said. "I think our tightness is what separates our team from others.

"We have a special bond. It has been a lot of fun playing with such a great group of guys."

Hernando (14-2-2) has advanced with victories over Neshoba Central (5-1) and Ridgeland (2-0).

The lone losses were Horn Lake and Olive Branch -- both by 1-0 counts -- with the last loss coming Nov. 15.

The Tigers have allowed five goals for the entire season.

While the challenge will be supreme, Bennett feels like the contest may hinge on the simplest of things.

"Whichever team keeps their head, will do the best," Bennett said. "Whichever team has the most composure will win.

"You have to be nervous because you are so close. Yet, if you don't win, your season is over.

"Fortunately, we will carry a lot of confidence into the match. We are treating this match just like we did the Oxford one. It is a really big challenge and we are treating it like one."

The Starkville-Hernando winner will face either West Harrison or Pascagoula for the state championship.

The fourth of six matches that day, the Class 5A title match is set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Clinton High School.

A Little Story About A Coat

You really need to find a way to cope with our harsh northern winters. Foremost, Lady Luck must help you land a good winter coat, and to my delight she did just that for me last year. Entirely by chance I stumbled into a fur shop, and as soon as we saw each other — the coat and I, that is — we knew that we were a fit, a perfect match, and that we would embark on an intimate and warm journey together.

And so it was! The coat hadn't deceived me. It did a virtual dance around me when I wore it. I knew this for a fact because perfect strangers would stop me in the street and ask, "Wherever did you discover such a gorgeous coat?"

I would tell them the story, adding a few colorful details, and in general I was totally thrilled with the whole situation.

It happened that one day I met a neighbor of mine, who, when she saw the coat, fell into a fit of ecstasy. She had to have just such a coat, or the world would come to an end.

"Where did you manage to find such a beautiful coat?" she continued to harangue me. Finally I told her the story of our initial meeting, which might be described in a romantic novel as love at first sight.

"The moment we saw each other," I recounted, "there was a throbbing in my chest, and the two of us swore eternal love."

To cheer her up, I promised my neighbor I would take her to the fur shop. "With your figure," I added, "you will conquer the world, and you are certain to find the coat for which you were fated.

We didn't procrastinate, christianhandbags and post-haste I drove with her to the same shop. "This is it," I said. "You can choose a coat here from the most beautiful and the best."

She looked at herself in the mirror: a knockout figure, tall and graceful, narrow in the waist — quite sexy into the bargain. She did, however, suffer from one tiny, but fatal, flaw: She was a dead soul, a cold fish! Even bright red blush failed to brighten the sour expression on her face. Among the neighbors she was known as "Yom-Kippur Punim," that is, "Atonement-Day Face." What can you do with a person who was born on the left side? It was always the same: If the day was bright, she was under a cloud; if the sun was shining, she stumbled around in the dark; if everyone complained of the heat, she shivered from the cold.

The owner of the shop was a tall, genial lady. She welcomed us heartily, and although she was busy with two other customers, she devoted herself to my neighbor and kept displaying coats for her approval. My neighbor, with great energy, took to assessing the coats — put one on, took one off.burberryhandbags One coat was lovelier than the next. I quietly watched her silent struggle as she considered each garment. The poor thing simply had no inkling of why all the coats were wrong for her. She was unaware that the minute she put on a coat she would instantly throw it a glance of malignant disapproval, and the coat itself would begin to shake itself loose from her grasp.

In the meantime, I sneaked a glance at the other side of the dressing room and noticed that there was quite a hubbub. At its center I was fascinated to see two women who were carrying on coquettishly in front of the mirror.

They appeared to be middle aged, rather short of stature and quite ample around the waist. One of them had a head of flaming red hair. With every toss of her mane, an electric current would pass through the fur coats, which were lined up like soldiers in formation. Every once in a while, the fitting room filled with a burst of hearty laughter, and the very air crackled with the electricity sparked by her exuberant cheerfulness.

At this moment, the shop owner appeared, carrying in her hands a truly fabulous coat, a one-in-a-million jewel. The coat was as light as a feather and as smooth as butter. Indeed, it kept slipping out of her hands. The lively redhead grabbed it for herself and threw it over her shoulders, and immediately the coat came to life. Her red hair brought out the gold color in the fur, and with her every move, with every turn of her limbs, the coat danced and rejoiced.
"What is it?" we all cried out.

"It's a fox," the owner tossed out her reply with evident pride.

The fox was radiant with lively colors, bright gold interlaced with black-golden streaks. The red-haired lady slid smoothly around in the coat, her every move an act of seduction.

She coquettishly stretched out her hands to the mirror, sprang around the room with smart dance steps and carried on her steady flirtation with the fox.

"Ah, this coat! This is me," she rhapsodized.

My neighbor stood there as though she had been physically assaulted. Then she confronted the store owner, who hadn't stopped circling the fiery redhead, and stormed,

"I want to know one thing. Why didn't you show me that fabulous coat first?"

The owner tore the coat off the red-haired woman and draped it around Yom-Kippur Face.

"Here, you have it!!!" cried the owner.

What can I tell you? In that very instant, the fox started to struggle for its life. The poor thing hung about her, colorless and faded, completely exhausted, hardly able to draw a breath. And in the end, its head thrown to the side, it heaved its final gasp.

I would not have believed that such a thing could happen. Just a minute earlier the fox was prancing around with great happiness and joie de vivre, standing firm, ready to conquer worlds. And suddenly, with no warning, it was overcome by complete and utter prostration.

My neighbor, a furious expression on her face, monclerjacketswomens shook the dead animal from her shoulders and handed the slithering fox to the red-haired woman. That one grabbed it with both hands, pressed it to her breast with abandon and caressed the fox seductively, whispering all the while.

"Come to Mama, coachhandbags little darling. Come to Mama."

And the fox instantly came to life!

The woman beamed at her reflection in the mirror, struck out a sexy little leg from under the coat, giggled, and naughtily displayed all her feminine charms. And we, well, we stood transfixed as though under a magic spell. You would think that we had been looking at the same coat all along, but it wasn't so! The coat changed altogether, fakerolexwatches depending completely on the nature and temperament of the woman who wore it.

Naturally, you want to know how this whole incident concluded. What can I tell you? My neighbor's moment of joy quickly evaporated. On the way home she swore to me that she would never again consider buying a fur coat because she "slaughtered them without a knife." So I attempted to comfort her and suggested that she should begin first with a fox collar. Next she could graduate to a fox jacket. In this manner she would allow the animal to accustom itself to her, one small step at a time. She turned down her nose, heaved a deep sigh, and said, "The fox is not my animal."

How Wall Street took $331 million from Philly and its schools

The interest rate swaps, which you can read more about in the PBPC report or at some in the articles I link to below, ostensibly were signed to protect the city from having to pay higher interest rates.chloehandbags When interest rates tanked after the recession, however, the city and School District were left holding the bag and had to pay the old high interest rates, losing millions—or pay millions to cancel the agreements.

Our city and schools have already been cut to the bone: the city cut nearly $100 million during 2008 and 2009,guccihandbagsreplica while the School District faced a $629 million budget shortfall that was closed by serious teacher and staff layoffs and by big cuts to programs.
